DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH -A GLIMPSE

It is a well- known fact that English plays an important role in binding the whole of the nation to a thread. It is language that opens the gate way of employability and opportunity and vision for the youth. The department of English of S.K.S.D. Mahila Kalasala, Tanuku owes its origin to the very establishment of the college in 1982 which was affiliated to Andhra University. As usual both for first- and second-year classes of English has been taught a compulsory subject.

Since inception, the department has established itself in a big way catering to the needs of society and imparting quality education to the students. In conformity with the vision and mission of the college and the present society need, the department of English has molded itself with positive aspirations to cope-up with the latest trend. Now a days any kind of employment demands a good command over the communicative skill of the student, so, the department has given priority to this.

Since most of the students have rural backdrop, the department of English has prepared an active plan to enhance the language skills. First of all, the slow learners are identified through various methods like asking them some simple questions, a dictation test and examining their family history like parent's education etc. After identifying the slow learners, a syllabus with basics in English has been prepared to conduct a bridge course for a few days.

The department is equipped with the English language lab with the software provided by the Globe Reena technologies. The software has different modules on the basics like grammar, pronunciation, group discussion and different composition work.  In addition to this, we have in the lab number of CD/DVDS on functional English, Group Discussions, Situational English, Phonetic Sounds and many more.

VISION
