Department of PG Micro Biology - Profile

The Department of Microbiology was established in 2016. It is now widely recognized as Centre of Excellence in Microbiology with respect to teaching and technical skills.  A Numbers of students have been completed the Masters Degree from the Department. The alumni of the Department occupied positions with great responsibilities in different research Institutions and prestigious labs.

The Department has excellent infrastructure for teaching and learning. There are M. Sc. laboratory, central instrument rooms, two classrooms, one seminar Hall. The Department has up-to date configured computers with internet facility. The Department has regular and routine bacteriological equipment, High speed refrigerated centrifuges, laminar air flow stations, Incubators, PCR-thermo-cycler, Hot air Ovens, Freezer, Homogenizer, Cooling Incubator, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Water bath, orbital Shaking Incubator, electrophoresis and UV transilluminator facilities..

The departmental Library is self sufficient and has subject related books. The Library is managed by the students of the Department and is open on all days of the week.

The Department regularly hosts research talks and seminars, offers Consultancy services and the faculty members and students are involved.

The Department conducts training programs for the CSIR-UGC, SET/ NET and PGCET examinations. After their post graduation from the Department, students are admitted to Top Institutes. The department has strong rapport with potential employers and the opportunities of employment are routinely displayed.

Faculty is actively involved in “outreach activities”.
